Rastan is a 2-d side scrolling hack and slash game with a fantasy/barbarian-esque setting as the backdrop.
Since this site is mostly centered around the First game heres a quick rundown of all three games:The first game came out a long time ago in the late twentieth century, circa 1987. The second one came out in um . . . lets forget the second one. Finally the third one . . . was well, like Golden Axe and a lot different than the other two. So now that thats over, I love Rastan (ahem . . . the game). I still play both the Sega Master System and arcade version to this day. This site is my dedication to you so you can know about Rastan; For instance, If you ever wanted to know which weapon he actually prefered, what he did in his free time between the levels, why he has a low self-esteem, or anything else about the burly barbarian just ask me. What makes Rastan so swell you ask? He can jump off walls, be upgraded with different items (although I don't think the armor actually did anything), up thrust, down thrust (they should put this move in EVERY game), obtain different weapons (including the infamous FIRE SWORD!), and grow his hair different lengths (he did on my version, I swear). Oh and when he kills the bad guys, they literarily combust into a splatter of blood. Looping within all this zany goodness is the amazing sound. A finely crafted orchestration (which is remixed; see The Rastan Soundtrack section!) sets the barbaric mood. And the consistent sound effect of enemies bones being hacked into with every press of the attack button is nothing short of satisfying! Disturbing yet satisfying. It's nothing like chicken and mayonaise! |
